Robbers broke into the historic Muralidhar temple in Rampur-Mathura village on the night of May 14, tied the priest and his helper and looted Rs 12,000 that was kept for bhandara.

The robbers, who were young in age, also took away two sacks of rice, 15 kg of pulses and other dry rations kept in the temple. Even pots and pans were not spared.

A youth was killed and another injured when the motorcycle on which they were going to Mahmudabad was hit by a sand-laden tractor-trolley near Khataura village on Sunday morning.  Kashi Ram was crushed to death when he fell under the wheels of the tractor. His friend Chandrasekhar flew off the motorcycle and sustained serious injuries.

Raju sweeper, who set himself on fire on the evening of February 28 at his house in Rampur-Mathura, died in the Civil Hospital in Lucknow on the night of March 1 where he had been taken for treatment following severe burns.

Raju  is believed to have taken the extreme step following a fight with his wife. The police have recorded the statements of his wife and other family members.

A young girl, Puja Devi, was crushed to death on Feb 22 when she came under the wheels of a sugarcane laden trolley. The accident occurred around 5.30 pm when the girl, who was a niece of Bahadur Chauhan of Lohian Purva, had come to  Rampur-Mathura market place to buy vegetables.
